Logline: A self-centered journalist is called home to handle her dead mother’s estate and finds herself saddled with more than she can handle: a hoarder house, a basement full of marijuana plants and an eccentric brother struggling to fend for himself now that his doting mother is gone.
Bio: Kate Erickson is a writer and editor living in the Portland area. She worked for more than a decade as a journalist, first in newspapers and then as a digital editor for National Public Radio. Kate’s feature comedy screenplay ROLL WITH IT was a top-50 finalist in the 2014 Nicholl Fellowship, and a Semifinalist in the 2016 Austin Film Festival. ROLL WITH IT also landed her a spot in the 2016 IRIS/NYWIFT Writers Lab, funded by Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey. Her feature comedy LAST CHRISTMAS and original sitcom KID APPROPRIATE are both semifinalists in the 2017 Austin Film Festival screenplay competition. When she’s not writing, Kate can be found playing football with her three sons, or tap-dancing with old ladies at the senior center.
