Logline: An ambitious woman’s meteoric rise from secretary to editor of Britain’s largest tabloid newspaper catapults her to the top of the country’s power elite. When she authorizes the phone hacking of a teenage murder victim, she becomes entangled in a web of intrigue that could destroy the life she’s created.
Bio: Barbara Nunberg is new to screenwriting after a long career in international public policy. She served in senior positions in the World Bank and as a Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. She’s a Visiting Scholar at New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and continues to advise international organizations and governments around the world on governance and development. She has a Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University.
She now writes political dramas for feature films and TV, drawing on her global experience. Willful Blindness, her script about the newspaper hacking scandal that rocked Great Britain, was selected for the Meryl Streep 2016 Writers’ Lab. It was a quarterfinalist for the Scriptapalooza Screenwriting Competition and the Page International Screenwriting Awards and has been optioned by Anne Harrison Productions. Her current screenplay, Facts on the Ground, is a thriller set in the West Bank and Gaza.
